The vet couldn't work it out until he finally asked her what she was feeding them. She gave him a blank look and said 'grass'. He had to point it out to her that calves were baby MAMMALS and as such required MILK. This is the trouble with people who are trying to do good, but are uneducated about what they are doing. They end up causing the animals far more stress.Michahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02585008845765873770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4825862577462485466.post-37489724898868213802012-06-08T13:23:04.010+10:002012-06-08T13:23:04.010+10:00Congratulations on a very honest blog. The sort of information portrayed by this group must be exposed so the general public, both here and overseas, are not being mislead when they are asked for donations.
Surely there should be full accountability of these organisations.Outbackwriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04015675804326041247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4825862577462485466.post-22263285058326193122012-06-08T13:08:39.086+10:002012-06-08T13:08:39.086+10:00As someone who worked on large cattle ranches in t...As someone who worked on large cattle ranches in the U.S. and who also worked on cattle properties here in Oz, and farmed for 23 years I find statements in the video incorrect and the whole video as melodramatic.
This is what a number of these so-called animal rescue and animal protection places and organizations do. They aren't appealing to people like us but to people who live in cities and towns who have no idea about animal husbandry but are the ones that are the main financial donors. The video doesn't have to be factual because their average donor doesn't know what we know. The video is made to tug at the heart strings of "townies".

A well written article.

Regards,
Peter

Former cowboy for:

Indian Canyon Ranch, Texas
Hijos De La Cejita Ranch, New Mexico
Ferguson Ranch, Oklahoma
Hagermeister's Twin Pine Ranch, Wyoming
Hagermeister's Flying Lazy Lee Ranch, Wyoming
Wagerup Farmlands, Western Australia
Bergalla Pastoral Company, Western Australia

http://about.me/AlwaysACowboy
Twitter: AlwaysACowboyPeterhttp://about.me/AlwaysACowboynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4825862577462485466.post-30624878442818045562012-06-08T10:26:23.045+10:002012-06-08T10:26:23.045+10:00Well written once again!Well written once again!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
